Baehr - loss of voice

We switched from an Autocom to a Baehr last year and have been generally pleased with it but we sometimes lose the voice side of things altogether. I originally thought it might be a problem with Ruth's kit as I could hear the radio and GPS. I tried swapping various parts between her circuit and mine without improvement. The real problem has been that it's intermittent so it's hard to track down.

Yesterday, though, I found out a bit more. It was a nice afternoon so we decided on a short run of an hour or so and although the voice side seemed a little quiet I thought it had sorted itself out. After about 45 minutes I realised Ruth couldn't hear me and when I raised my visor to call to her it became clear I couldn't hear her either. When we stopped and talked about it, I discovered that she can also hear the radio and GPS so it clearly isn't a problem with the headsets and is, I guess, something inside the box itself.

Any ideas on how to pin this one down?

Keith

I experienced the same thing you describe -- after 45-60 minutes the passenger wasn't hearing me. After another 15-30 minutes I couldn't hear the passenger. We believe the problem was that the vox wasn't being tripped, so we adjusted the mic sensitivity (adjustable for each helmet, on the intercom). This didn't help. Ended up exchanging the unit with Baehr; this took care of the problem.

Thanks, Howard. There's nothing quite like finding someone who's had the same problem! I'll contact the company.

But be sure to try the vox adjustment first. It may solve your problem, and more quickly/easily than exchanging units.
