Gmrs/frs

I understand the GMRS requires a license due to more power and range.
Which license is required and how much?
I have an FCC radio/telephone operators license for using 2-way Radio in an aircraft. Does that cover it?
Do most people have a GMRS that shares some frequencies with FRS or do must people just stick with FRS?

TIA

Go to the link Tony listed and see if your amateur licence will cover you, but I suspect it won't. Besides, you can do it online, obtain obtain a temporary number instantly until you get the permanent licence in the mail from the FCC, and you're good to go for five years.
