New RT, Autocom Install? New Owner

Hi, folks, I just bought an 06 RT and have been reading about CanBus. I'd like to transfer my Autcom system over from my Goldwing, rather than pay the dealer the $750 he wants for installation of a new system, but I have no idea in the world how to go about it with the CanBus. I did a search for Autocom installations, but didn't find what I was looking for.

Dealer sez it's rated at 3.5 hours to install, due to all the plastic that has to come off.

I'm also wondering how I'm going to power my XM and Ipod, which will run through the Autocom. The Goldwing had the onboard stereo, of course.

Any help or direction to um, directions, will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Mark

Power the toys!

Hi, I have the same bike and have a bunch of things wired up to it. What I and many others have done is to wire in a fuse block, which bypasses the computer and then you can wire up your various items to the fuse block with no worries. Centec, Blue Sea are very popular. I used a Painless Wiring 7 circuit fuse block because I liked the built in relay and the mix of switched power and constant power circuits. It is a little bulkier than the other units. I had no trouble installing the various things without removing plastic, although it will be easier to thread wires without the plastic on. Good Luck
