SENA 20s

I have SENA 20s.

It is Paired with my Iphone and Garmin 660..
I would like to also pair to my Escort 8500. Sena makes a BT unit, SM10 I think @$139.

Will it work to get a BT Transmitter (say Bluetooth 4.0 @$30) and plug into the Escort?

What is the protocol SENA uses, or how can I "know" it will work?

Re: SENA 20s

Do you ride often 2-up? If so, do you use the intercom a lot?
This is important if you are going to use the SM10 to connect your Escort (and Zumo 660 too if you'd like) because if you are using the intercom you will NOT get radar alerts, and if you are getting radar alerts you won't be using the intercom. Let me explain... You will need to tap the jog dial (I have the SM10-H and not the 20s) to toggle back and forth between the 2 modes Intercom/Sm10. You can use the SR10 instead of the SM10 and that issue will disappear, but you may find the Escort too chatty and interrupting your intercom conversation... That is where i am at, and I think I will add a visual alert to the radar detector and forget about the audio alerts, something like the Mark Parnes unit

The Escort 8500 has an Earphone jack output so you could do a hardwire output feed into any BT transmitter and pair that with the 20S. There is no BT protocol involved to worry about, just the hard wire.

The Sena SM10 is a bluetooth transmitter that can pair and brodcast to two headsets at the same time. So you should be able to use the earphone output from the Escort into the SM10 and BT transmitted to the 20S. The SM10 is designed to "talk" to two headsets at the same time.

Re: SENA 20s

Thanks....
What I hope to do is use an after market BT transmitter ($30) into the earphone jack of the 8500.

I have heard some say they could not pair some Garmin Nuvi with Sena, so didn't know if there was issues,
