Baehr Install Question

I've herad the term "plug and play" used in connection with the Baehr comm system and that it is a lot easier to install than the BMW system.

Questions:
1. Does the Baehr simply plug into a cable/harness already provided by BMW without removing the stingray?

2. If yes, do you get full functionality with the intergrated radio?

3. If no, should I assume it plugs in/interfaces at the back of the radio unit attached to the stingray?

4. Has anyone had both and moved from one to the other for some reason that you'd care to explain.

5. If somehow Plug-n-Play, could I take it to Europe and install it in a rental very easily? This will probably be answered above but while I was asking...

Thx in advance, Lee

Yes with a provided adapter that goes inline between the rear speaker wiring connectors.

2. If yes, do you get full functionality with the intergrated radio?

Yes.

3. If no, should I assume it plugs in/interfaces at the back of the radio unit attached to the stingray?

N/A

4. Has anyone had both and moved from one to the other for some reason that you'd care to explain.

Can't answer this one. I have had Autocom before.

5. If somehow Plug-n-Play, could I take it to Europe and install it in a rental very easily? This will probably be answered above but while I was asking...

Yes.

Raffy's previous reply already answers your questions, so all I can add is this: If I can do it, anyone can -- and I mean that. I am not a wrench, nor an electrician. The Baehr intercom is totally plug-and-play. Having had mine in and out several times now I could do it in under 5 minutes.

The helmet installation is a little more complicated. Some people do their own; I chose to pay a shop to do it.
