White House Gardener Fired

James "Jim" Whitey, the head gardener at the White House,
was dismissed today after 31 years of loyal service to scores
of US Presidents and First Ladies.

In an exclusive interview outside the back gate of the Presidential Residence,
the 64-year old Mr. Whitey, proclaimed his innocence and strongly condemned
his firing.

"It all happened so fast. I'm still in a daze," said the bewildered Whitey.
"All I know is,
I was getting ready to weed the rose bed outside the Oval Office window
like I do every week.
I called out to my assistants,
'Has anyone seen the spade and the hoe?'
and the next thing I knew,
the Secret Service was hauling my ass off the property."

Wasn't going to comment on this, but couldn't help myself.

I have no use for the current administration but I don't think this is the proper place for this type of humor. Maybe around the campfire drinking beer with your buddies but not on this website.

Just my opinion.

That is the beauty of our country, everyone has the right to their opinion and the right to express it......even if it is racist. And for now this website remains somewhat censorship free so he can espouse his views even through bad humor and the rest of us can just ignore the post and move on.

Freedom of Speech. Yes!

But I agree with those who posted to call out what's wrong with the humor in the original post.
IRH posted what he thought was humorous; let's gently suggest that as a group we want to do better.

Okay, this is the humor board... let's get back to the funnies. _

I find this to be a funny picture with understaded political opinion; it isn't about the color of the truck:

Wow! Freedom of speech and racist ideas aren't really compatible.

As abhorrent as the concept may be of racism and freedom of speech being strange bedfellows, here in the states your right to say even abhorrent, racist, sexist, homophobic statements is protected by our Constitution. It is at the core of our founding.

Re: White House Gardener Fired

Good grief. Calling that joke, or perhaps its teller, 'racist' does injustice to victims of real racism and desensitizes us to what real racism is. If anything, the joke pokes fun at racism. Or perhaps it pokes fun at the overly politically correct.

It is a shame that we've swung the pendulum so far to the other side that we can't, under the concept of 'coming together', laugh at one another, at ourselves, and at our mutual foibles.
