Thumbs up Brand New Iway 500C for $473!

Hi everyone. I just thought this sounds great so I wanted everyone to know. If you purchase Lowrance Iway 500C GPS there is a rebate for $100 directly from manufacturer. The lowest price I was able to find is $573 - $100 rebate from this link:

http://buyeretail.com/product.asp?i=LOWIWAY500C

This is authorized seller for Lowrance and you will get a full warranty with your new unit (not refurbished). But, there is a catch:

ONLY PURCHASES MADE BETWEEN 4/2/06 AND 4/9/06 ARE ELIGIBLE FOR $100 REBATE!

This seller has a rebate form on their website from Lowrance - take a look at the rules.

I already have this great gps. I love it. My friend asked me to buy him one, too, so that's how I came across this information. I bought mine in December of 2005 for $550, but this is even better deal. In stores they sell for around $800. There are lots of posts about Iway 500c, especially on Goldwing websites - gets excellent reviews. In fact, several people opted not to buy a new Goldwing with built-in gps (because it costs some $2000) but get Iway instead. That's exactly what my friend intends to do, too.

Also, a quick note about ebay: a lot of resellers on ebay are not legit dealers so if you buy from them there will be no warranty from Lowrance. Above listed dealer is approved and you will get warranty.

I hope this helps someone. I think it is a great gps at now unbeatable price (at least fo one week, anyway).

iWay500c $327.00

Try www.buyeretail.com
I just bought an i500c for $327.00 as a factory refurbished unit. I added an external antenna for $69.99 so I can dump the unit in the tail trunk and just listen to it via my sound system. The unit comes packaged like new with everything included. I bought an iWay500c last fall, it worked great on the bike but the external speaker broke (nice to have in your auto) so with winter comming I just returned it for credit. Now with lots of riding ahead and the unit at half the cost it was last fall I could not resist.
There is a software upgrade on Lowrance.com (v1.8) and an updated mapping DVD comming out in April. This is a big unit but it has all the bells and whistles needed plus some, it easily plugs into your sound system for voice and you can go swimming with it.
I'm going to look at doing a mod to my front compartment lid so I can fit the screen into a pocket cut into the lid. This will eliminate all the mounting systems and put the unit in an easy to look at location if I want to see it or fiddle around with it. I will post a picture of it if it works out.

Just beware of the rebate. I have been waiting for 6 months for my $100 rebate. Many others are in the same boat. Lowrance has hired a very shoddy 3rd party to process the rebate claims.

My I way just died! While riding along in my pickup, the screen went white and stopped working. I've tried emailing Lowarance and calling but no response yet!

I second this comment. Bought my iWay500 in November and still haven't received the $100 rebate even after numerous letters to the 2nd party rebate processor.
I'm going directly to Lowrance CEO on Monday. There are FTC regulations that govern this type of deceptive practice.

Good new! I finally got a hold of Tech Support from Lowrance. After almost 35 minutes on hold, I finally spoke with a rep. who informed me that my unit was out of warrenty. I would have to pay for any repairs.

The good news? For only $157 dollars, they will send me a refurbished unit complete with a 6 month warranty.

Better than paying $400+ for a Garmin.

Now if that one goes, then a I see a Zumo 450 in my future.

The Bright Side

At least you will not have to learn how to program a new unit!
I know two guys I ride with who have had issues with the Garmins, one a BMW unit the other a Garmin mounted on his Yamaha, the grass is not always greener.
