What is the difference 2610 / 2720

What are the differences between the Garmin 2610 and the 2720.
I know that they are physically the same.
Does the 2720 have ab SD card memory? (no hard drive).

Does any body have a preference.

Is the 2720 just the "newer" model with a few more bells and whistles?

The 2720 has a very nice display. The StreetPilot 2720 comes preprogrammed with City Navigator™ North America v7 NT maps—containing detailed road maps throughout the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. This map database features nearly six million POIs —including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. It also can get traffic data with additional costs.

The 2610 is a blank slate, you'll need to buy memory to load what info you can into a CF card. I've heard you need a 2 Gig card to hold all the data for the entire US.

Both are very nice units. Go to a site like www.gpsdiscount.com or getfeetwet.com or the garmin site and check out the specs.

Both the 2610 and 2720 have flash memory not a harddrive, so they work great on a bike. The 2720 comes with 2 gig and all of the maps preloaded ready to go. It also has the new display and text to voice. I have the 2610 with a 2 gig compact flash card and all of North America loaded, works great, I don't remember how I didn't get lost without it. The 2610 has voice commands but it doesn't tell you the street names.

While I would like to upgrade to either of these units, I really wish they had an internal battery.
