Card capacity?

Could someone with a Garmin give me an idea of how big of a card it would take to load CA, Nevada, Idaho, Ore and Wash. in a 276c. Is there a site somewhere that provides that type of info?

Trying to decide between 276 and 2610.

Thanks,

Jim,

Map size is not determined by the GPS but rather the software you use with it. City Nav NA v7 lists those maps as 200.7 Mb with 13 maps. The same area in v6 is 204.7 Mb with 177 maps

Thanks for that info, John. Looks like without carrying a laptop, at least a 256 card would be necessary to get CA and the surrounding states.

2 gig card

I have a 2610 and at the price of cards these days I just stuck a 2gig card in it ($80). With a 2gig card you can put the entire US City Navigator v7 plus about 1/2 the US of Topo USA all at once.

The advantage of having both in there is you can turn off one map and view the other. You can't navigate in Topo but you can setup the navigation while CNv7 is on, switch maps and it will still navigate.

The 2 gig seems to be the answer for the 2610, but for the 276, the biggest you can get is 512. Probably makes sense to go with that as it is not that much more money.

I am leaning toward the 276C because of the screen. Just trying to decide if it is worth twice as much when it is all said and done.

Jim,

It is a tough call. I have the 2610 with the 2gig card and sometimes when the sun is just right I wish I had a brighter screen. But I only have a total of $560 invested so I can spend the difference on other farkels. Been very happy with this set up.

Sun Shade

There is a Sun Shade you can buy for the 2610, works for most sun situations but the 2610 technology is old there are better screens and better firmware out so unless you get a good price they are getting outdated quickly.
