mounting... 2610 v 2720

Are there any differences in the mounting surfaces on the Garmin 2610 and the Garmin 2720?

I am leaning toward removing the map light and using BMW hardware.

The 2 units look physically identical on the outside. Are they?

In other words... Can the hardware that is used to mount the 2610 be used on the 2720?

Thanks all for your patience.
