Question Nav IV mount- What to put on it?

Hello

I got a "new to me" 07 k1200 LT. It came with a Nav IV mount (has the 4 buttons on left) I believe it is called. (whats a a Mount worth by the way, $100 bucks?)

My question is, what GPS should/can I put on it...... What range am I looking at price wise for the BMW GPS (I haven't talked to my dealer yet can you tell). I heard $1000...???

On flea bay there's a nav IV complete unit it looks like w/mount and all for $899...

Is that mount (navIV ) the cats meow or what...I'm used to an old Garman Nuvi stuck on a ball post.

Should I have a different one? What's the prevailing opinion?

Signed needing an upgrade

Just get a Garmin 27XX. Plug and play to the bike. Research the garmins to see what you need/want. the buttons on the mount however will be worthless as they only work with the BMW branded Garmins.

The bike I purchased had the Nav ?, I did not like it and gave it to a bud. I just put my Garmin 2720 in its place. plugged up to the OEM harness and all is good!

I have owned two LTs and on both I installed BMR Product's Co-Pilot shelf. Rock solid with options to mount multiple devices. (http://www.bmrproducts.com/products.php?cat=1). You can't go wrong with these mounts. An awesome product.

Re: Nav IV mount- What to put on it?

My 07 came with a Nav III mount. I'm replacing it within the next few days (replacing front and rear shocks so body work will be removed) with a Zumo 660 mount.

Re: Nav IV mount- What to put on it?

The Nav IV mount will handle the Garmin 660 and Garmin 665. The buttons on the mount will not work with those GPS's, but I never use them even with the Nav IV I have. I recently bought a used RT that came with a Garmin 660 and I tried it in my Nav IV mount and it worked fine, just the buttons on the mount did not work as mentioned above. Hope this helps.
