Zumo 660 and System 6 Bluetooth Helmet

OK I'm new to all this Bluetooth technology however I have invested in a new System 6 helmet with Bluetooth at great expense. I have a Zumo 660 and I have paired them up etc. however apart from the nice lady saying "devices connected" when both are turned on I then get absolutely nothing from the Zumo in the helmet speakers. I've made sure the volume settings are up for both devices and the Zumo happily announces away and plays mp3s through its own speaker but still nothing in the helmet.

Am I doing something daft or does the System 6 only work with the BMW Navigator!!!???

Any help much appreciated.

Re: Zumo 660 and System 6 Bluetooth Helmet

Nigel,

It took me several attempts to get the pairing correct when I first set up my Nav IV. Volume was a problem till I got the pairing done correctly. At first, it worked, but was too low. I finally ( after at least 4 attempts) got it right. I can't tell you what I was doing wrong, but buy clearing everything and starting over, I finally got it right.

I did have problems with a mini usb on the Nav IV and Garmin replaced the Nav IV with the Zumo 660 and it did not have all of the interconnect features of the Nav IV so it is being replaced with the Nav IV. I hope this is not to confusing!

My suggestion would be to get all Bluetooth systems cleared and just start over with the pairing.

Many thanks Dano, I will clear everything and give it another go.

It's frustrating when the helmet speaks to you at switch on and then takes a vow of silence!

Im thinking of getting the 660, what do you think of it? At over $700 its pretty expensive.

Re: Zumo 660 and System 6 Bluetooth Helmet

I love it. My use is limited though to the audio from the bike and my GPS. My phone doesn't have BT so that isn't set up (yet).

I know that some people are complaining of the sound, but for my 60 year old ears, I am very satisfied. On my 02 K1200LT I had a Nolan 102 helmet and modified titanium speakers and an Auto-comm intercom, and it was never as clear or as loud as my Schuberth helmet.

I did not expect it to sound as good as it does!

Gday Dan, I have a Shuberth C3 as well, and a starcom 1 advance audio system. Had my Navman paired to the system before it was stolen, and it worked well. Just wondering about the ease of use etc.

Re: Zumo 660 and System 6 Bluetooth Helmet

This was my first Bluetooth devise and I had to go through a learning curve. Once I got the hang of it, and understood what I was supposed to do to get them to get paired up, it wasn't too hard.

I did have a few problems getting my Nav IV to get paired up and it took about attempts. I am happy with the end result.

The 660 (Nav IV) is costly, but think it is the only GPS that fits into the slot. I really didn't have much of a choice if I wanted the built in. I generally use the GPS to get home and as an expensive toy. I'm not really a power user so if you don't have to use the built in slot of the K1600GTL there might be a better GPS for you. It really depends on YOUR application and how you want to use it.
