calling all 2820 users with Bluetooth headsets

I am looking to see if the Garmin 2820 pairs with your cell phone and and then you pair your headset with your garmin if you get your, calls, gps directions and media player thru your headset from the pairing of the 2820?

I tried this on my 765t which is supposed to work this way, but it does not seem to want to function properly.

Thanks

Re: calling all 2820 users with Bluetooth headsets

My phone pairs with my 2820, BUT the 2820 requires an external mic to work. So although I can hear the ring and the person talk, they cannot hear me unless I run the mic from the 2820 into my helmet.

I finally gave up and paired my phone directly to my Bluetooth headset and used a Bluetooth adapter from IMC to get my XM and GPS prompts to my helmet. So, I now have my phone Bluetoothed to my headset and on the other channel I have the 2820 Bluetoothed in. I'm using a Camos BT300 (actually it's a Whistler, but it's nothing more than a rebadged Camos) and the Camos Bluetooth adapter plugged into the 2820.

My Scala pairs up with the 2820. My phones will hook up to either one. I normally hook the phone to the 2820 and run the phone and music through the 2820. I get music and directions and the phone.

So you can talk on the phone via the 2820? How'd you do that?

With the Scala headset. It hooks up the the 2820. The phone hooks up to the 2820 also. The 2820 acts as a pass through. When the phone rings I get a screen on the 2820 that shows a phone call coming in. I can press the button on the screen or the button on the side of the Scala.

Yeah, I know that, but the 2820 only does audio out via Bluetooth. At least mine does. I's still have to use the external mic to be able to talk on the phone.

Re: calling all 2820 users with Bluetooth headsets

As I recall, the common way to solve this issue is by employing a Motorola HF820. They are out of production and difficult but not impossible to come by these days.* This wirelessly couples in your spoken audio to the on-board intercom system and 2820. Try a search on that to look into how it works.

I must have an oddball then. I can talk on the phone from my helmet through the 2820. I have the update from Garmin for bluetooth and am running a Motorola Droid for a phone. I get directions from the gramin and music as well.

Re: calling all 2820 users with Bluetooth headsets

I have my Bluetooth Camos BTS-200 headset and microphone (installed in the helmet) paired to the 2820 and the Blackberry phone also paired to the 2820.
I do not pair the the Camos Bluetooth headset directly to the phone.
When someone calls, their name comes up on the display of the 2820.
You can set the 2820 to answer automatically after 3 rings or you can have it set that it will not answer unless you touch the "answer button" on the screen of the 2820.
With this set up, you can also browse your phone book, missed calls, dialed calls and received calls on the screen of the 2820.
I also get audio directions from the 2820 through the Camos.
It just kinda works.

Here's the link for the Camos Headset.

Re: calling all 2820 users with Bluetooth headsets

Well I will have my hands on a 2820 and a Motorrad III in a few days.

I will see how my Scala G4 and my BlueAnt Interphone works with both of them.
