Zumo550/XM radio/Cardo Scala Rider 2 Bluetooth

I recently purchased a used, refurbished Zumo 550 with XM antennae and current XM account. I already have a Cardo Scala Rider 2 Bluetooth helmet system.

I paired the Zumo to my helmet and phone with no issues.

Here's the issue. I can not receive XM audio from the Zumo. I have a strong XM signal but, no audio.

I can receive audio from stored MP3 files that the previous owner had loaded.

I called Garmin they advise that the XM bandwidth is too large for the Bluetooth.

If this is true, is there another widget which will enable XM audio to my Scala helmet system?

Thanks

Does the rider have an FM receiver? If so, use the XM's transmitter and pair the two.

Since STC, I've been doing this and it works great with my G4.

I don't understand. I have the bike's FM, I have the Scala Rider system's FM. I have paired the Zumo to the headset, but, as I wrote earlier I can not receive any audio from the XM.

You have to match the frequency on the XM and the Scala. It takes some doing but it can be done.

Rob:

At the risk of being the posterboy of Village Idiots I don't have a clue about matching the freq's of the XM and Scala.

Can you be more specific as to how I do that matching.

I admit, I'm a caveman. I can wrench but I'm a novice with my multimeter.

Thanks

Re: Zumo550/XM radio/Cardo Scala Rider 2 Bluetooth

No worries, I was about to return my set when I found out how to change the stations.

I doubled checked the Scala website and the Rider FM set works the same way the G4 does.

While the radio is on, press and hold the Volume Up or Volume Down button for at least 3 seconds. Each time the station changes you get a small chirp sound.

I would set the XM to something low like 88.1. Then tune your helmet by holding down the Volume Down button until the XM and Rider are the same station. As you get closer to the XM's frequency, say 88.5 or 88.3, you may get a signal. Keep playing with it until you nail down 88.1.

With the G4 set, they just came out with a way to tune the helmet on the computer. Good for me, not useful to you.

The Zumo 550 manual (p. 46) says XM audio is not supported over Bluetooth.

Re: Zumo550/XM radio/Cardo Scala Rider 2 Bluetooth

I just re-read the OP. I thought the XM was a different unit from the 550. The XM unit in the Zumo will not stream over bluetooth or FM.

In a word, your S**touttaluck!

Sorry!
