Zumo 660 and 550

Any thoughts on which is a better choice. The 660 seems to have the bigger screen but the 550 seems more rugged.
I want something easy to read and use with xm radio and some mp capabilities would be nice.
I can find both of them for the same price. Just wondering what I might be missing.

Re: Zumo 660 and 550

Then you're talking about he Zumo 660, if you want XM.

I'm pretty sure they stopped making the 550 a while ago. I have a 660 and it's a very well built device.

Re: Zumo 660 and 550

The 550 is still on Garmin's site as is the 665 and 660 but I can get the 660 and 550 both for $600 usd.

The Garmin site says the 660 is not xm radio and traffic compatible. The 665 is xm radio trafic, radio and weather.

The 660 is 1,000 though.... not sure the weather is worth 400 extra though.....

Re: Zumo 660 and 550

I have the 550 which BMW sold although it was a Garmin unit. If you update the software it now is XM friendl. You will still need to buy the puck antenna about 180.00. I have the traffic and wx package too

Ok I found the 660 for 637 http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.a...&sku=GRZUMO660

and the 665 for 925 http://www.google.com/product_url?q=...hl=en&sa=title

I'm sorry for any confusion.

That Google site listing is bogus. The Garmin site shows the 665 at MSRP of $999, not the $1,319.18 the site claims, and probably the reason it is not in stock is that it is brand new and not available anywhere just yet ! The savings they are showing is flat out a lie. Caveat Emptor. I will not deal with sites that pull that stuff ! This reminds me of the New York camera store jerks.

Re: Zumo 660 and 550

About the only difference between a Zumo 660 and Zumo 665 (other than the price) is:

Zumo 660 has MSN Direct where as Zumo 665 does not.

Zumo 665 has XM Navtraffic for weather and radio, Zumo 660 does not. I should note that XM radio can be purchased separately, and with a communications center (like StarCom1 - digital or AutoCom) this can be added through the com port.

Zumo 665 is $300.00 more expensive and is difficult to find -usually sold out.

I would go with the Zumo 660.

Re: Zumo 660 and 550

The 665 is no more expensive then the 550 since you must buy the XM antenna for the 550 that is included in the price of the 665. Also 665 has stereo blutooth which the 550 does not.
