Thumbs down StreetPilot III problem...

Well this weekend I tried to update the firmware on my StreetPilot III. In the middle of the process my broadband internet went down. Now I am unable to turn on the gps whatsoever. All I get is a "beep".

I contacted Garmin support via email. Their response was that the unit needed "repair" but they don't repair them any longer. Do I have a nice new door stop? Or, is anyone supporting these units?

Re: StreetPilot III problem...

If you can't get it to work, I've got one you can have for next to nothing... I replaced it not too long ago with a 2820 that is sooooo much better. Big difference is the recalculate mode. Almost instantly.

Talking Re: StreetPilot III problem...

Thanks Dan - I appreciate the offer but I placed an order for a Zumo this morning. I'm looking forward to keeping the door open with my new StreetPilot III door stop.

Re: StreetPilot III problem...

I had no idea we could still get updates for the firmware on the SPIII (NAV I) units. I think the Garmin site said it was no longer supported the last time I looked.

Red face Re: StreetPilot III problem...

Chris,

Don't go by my recent experience. For all I know I might have used the wrong model GPS assuming that it was for the StreetPilot III.

Try this link to revive your SPIII. It can't hurt.
