Zumo 550 US and Canadian Maps???

I have searched the Zumo Forums and the LT GPS threads and still have not been able to find what I am looking for...I only hope it exists.

I have the Zumo 550 and recently purchased the $119 lifetime map update.

I installed it yesterday and all appeared to be find, until I started looking for hotels/restaurants in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

My US maps ended at the border and couldn't find anything in Canada.

I went back to the Garmin site and installed a map labeled Canada and US border states.
The "Map info" tab on my Zumo now shows:

CN North America NT 2010.20
[1] CN Canada NT 2010.20

Now I have details for Canada, but only the larger roads in the US.

What did I do wrong? Can I get detailed roads for both the US and Canada? How?

Thanks in advance for any help. I am hoping to take my bride of 21 years to Niagara for our anniversary next weekend as a surprise.

I am on hold with Garmin now, hoping that they can help also.

Cheers,

Re: Zumo 550 US and Canadian Maps???

After only 10 minutes on the initial hold, I was told that it sounds like "an XML file" is blocking the complete transfer of the map from my computer to my Zumo 550.

I was transferred to the software department and am now on an anticipated 30 minute wait. I don't mind waiting as long as I can navigate both the US and Canada afterwards.

I will post updates as they occur.

Re: Zumo 550 US and Canadian Maps???

Ok, I downloaded the application file again: garmin_rmu_cnnant2010_20

Now I am waiting for Garmin Supoprt to call me back. He was extremely nice to offer to call back when the file download was completed.

More updates as they occur.
