Zumo 550 into J&M Comm System

Hey everyone! I searched this forum and coudn't find an answer for my particular configuration.

I have an '09 LT with the J&M Comm System from my old bike. I bought a Zumo 550 and want to integrate audio output from the Zumo into the Comm System for GPS, XM and cell phone using Bluetooth. I tried the 3.5mm stereo (three contacts) jumper cable but no joy. On the 2.5mm cable I have found connectors with 2, 3 and 4 contacts. Which to use and where to order the ones with the 90 degree connectors?

Thanks in advance...

Cheers!

Not sure of the specifics but, I did purchase the cable at Radio Shack. I'll see if I can find more info. You are looking for the output of the cradle to the input in the oddoments box...right?

That's correct.

There has to be someone in this community who has this figured out.

Thanks!

Contact John Lazzaroni at J&M and see if they have anything for it.

I traded a few emails with John but he says the sat radio has to connect to the aux jack on the front of the Comm System. When you listen to that input you don't get the V1 hits. It's an either/or situation that prevents total integration.

I'm also interested in integrating my cell phone using Bluetooth via the Zumo. Has anyone done this and, if so, how?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

Re: Zumo 550 into J&M Comm System

Bob,

I cannot help you with the J&M connection, but I do pair my Zumo 660 with my iPhone with success. I am on a trip right now and do not have it in front of me, so this is by memory:

1) Select Bluetooth on Zumo menu, and ask it to pair with a device.

2) On your phone select Bluetooth to the on position (the iPhone has a display that says the device is now discoverable).

3) Once the iPhone and the Zumo "discover" one another, the phone will ask for an access password. For my Zumo it is default set at 1-2-3-4. Once this is entered into the phone it is paired and ready for business.

NOTE: The Zumo states that it does not support all functions on all cellphones. I will tell you that my phone book (contact list) in the phone is not displayed immediately. it normally takes about 10 minutes before the caller ID information "kicks in" and is displayed on the Zumo screen. Any calls that I receive in the interim are displayed as "unknown". The 660 has an incredibly good Bluetooth microphone and speaker in the unit and the reception is very good at low speed and also in a car.

I have a Baehr intercom system and the J&M equipped helmets - I will let you know how it goes through the J&M microphone as soon as I get back into town, as I am waiting for a cable from Baehr.

Hope this helps a little,

John
