Would like to buy a Garmin Navigator III

But doesn't seem to be a whole lot of options for buying the Navigator III GPS anyone have a good place to buy this unit at a price that is a lot lower then the standard assinine price of 1400?

The supreme irony of life is that hardly anyone gets out of it alive.

Re: Would like to buy a Garmin Navigator III

Buy a Garmin 2820 for about 1/3 the price or less, it's the same thing without the extra cradle. Then buy the BMW cradle from directly from Garmin, The only thing you won't have is the dealer locations programed in,

+1 on the Garmin 2820. I recently purchased one for under $250 at getfeetwet.com.

Re: Would like to buy a Garmin Navigator III

I have the Nav 2 on my 2005. Trying to update this thing is like pulling teeth. The Nav 2 has a memory card which is too small to hold much info so I need to upgrade that too. The Garmin 2820 looks like a better move. Anyone know if it will simply plug into my Nav 2 mount and plugs? And with that said what are the chances it will feed through my comm system (stock BMW) the same as the Nav 2??
I may put my order in today if this works.. ??

Re: Would like to buy a Garmin Navigator III

Wow thanks for the information folks!

Doing a bit of research on this further from the information provided I've run into this:

NOTE: This item has been discontinued by Garmin. It is replaced by nuvi 785T (click here), a smaller unit with a larger screen; or try the new nuvi 885T (click here), with full voice recognition technology!

LOL I'm thinking at this point the best course of action it to find a gps and then figure out a way of using the mount with it.

The supreme irony of life is that hardly anyone gets out of it alive.

Re: Would like to buy a Garmin Navigator III

And why would one buy the BMW branded cradle to use with the 2820, since the buttons WILL NOT work with anything but the BMW branded unit.
