List of BMW Dealers

Where can I obtain a list of BMW dealers in North America? I've Asked BMWMOA, but they haven't responded. Probably busy with the annual rally, I'm guessing.

Anyhow, I'm leaving on a 10,000 mile ride through Canada, the Great Plains and Alaska on June 14, and would like to take a list of dealers with me.

Thanks.

Inside my 60 year old body is a 35 year old brain wondering what the hell happened.

Re: List of BMW Dealers

Go to BMW's web site and click on dealer search. When you get to the search page there's a icon on the far right of the page for a dealer list. You can print a list of all US dealers.

Re: List of BMW Dealers

Somewhere on the BMW site (or maybe Garmin?) was also a file of the BMW dealers to update the list in the BMW/Garmin GPS units. I'll try to find it again.

Re: Here it is

If you have a BMW Nav III gps, they are listed in there as well as little icons on the screen.
But always call first. I was in N.C. recently and went to one shown in Hickory (I think) but found it closed.

Re: List of BMW Dealers

Alternatively, if you want a list of the dealers for your GPS unit, I've found that SundayMorningRides.com has a pretty good lists for BMW as well as most other major M/C manufacturers. Nice thing is, you can choose the file format including; GPX (universal gps format), GoogleEarth, Garmin, Magellen, or TomTom. Have fun.

I wish I could think of clever things to say in my signature.

Re: List of BMW Dealers

Thanks Steve, for the link to that file. Stupid question: I have a Garmin Nuvi 680. How do I load that info into it? Any help would be appreciated!

Re: List of BMW Dealers

Now that is a good question. I would think you would have to import the file to what ever Garmin mapping programe you have on the laptop and then push that out to the GPS. That's the way it works on the SP III and other Garmin units.

Re: List of BMW Dealers

That file loads into mapsource then you can transfer waypoints to the GPS which show up as favorites. Thats how it works for the quest and street pilots.

Re: List of BMW Dealers

.gdb files are used with Garmin's MapSoruce program. Some Nuvi users may not be familiar with this program due to the fact that the Nuvi comes preloaded with all of the US maps..so is bascially ready to use out of the box wihtout the need to install anything on your 'puter. The Mapsource program (disc) and your maps should have come with your device when you purchased it. You will need to have the MapSource program installed on your computer before you can open, or work with, a .gdb file. MapSource is a free program from Garmin, but in order to use it, you have to have licensed Garmin maps installed (for example, the 2008 North America NT DVD). Anyway, once you have everything loaded on the computer, you simply open the .gdb file from within MapSource. After that, you hook up your GPS (presumably via USB cable). After the device is recognized, you choose the "Send to Device" option, select(tick) Waypoints...and 'voila. You're done.

Instead of sending every one of these dealers to your device, you could alternatively Cut/Paste selected dealers into a new .gdb file (using MapSource obviously)...then choose "Send to Device". This way....you'll only be "loading" the dealers you want.

Have fun,
John
