Will Garmin intergrate w/Linux

I am considering making the switch to Linux operating system. Will the Garmin software (Maps) communicate with this system?

Regards,
Woody aka SoberBiker

You may want to read this thread for Mac users. It may pose the same issues, like a change from MapSource to RoadTrip.

Well, yes and no. Mapsource will not run natively in Linux, but you can load Wine, then install Mapsource. I can't remember if it will recognize a USB device though. Or, you can load VMWare or VirtualBox, then install Windows, then install any Winodws program you want. Any way you look at it, it's a clooge in Linux.

if you want to try Linux, try installing in it's own partition and have a dual boot setup. Or there are ways to load Linux on a thumb drive and you can just boot off that (providing your PC supports booting off a USB device). I have Puppy Linux installed on a 1Gb thumbdrive and it work fine. You can do the same thing with Ubuntu.
