I purchased a 2005LT with VOICE II communication system.
The seller decided that he wanted to keep the GPS unit he had installed with the bike.
I believe it is an original overpriced BMW Garmin unit. I purchased a new StreetPilot 2820 which fits in the existing cradle quite comfortably.
I understand that the buttons to the left of the cradle will not work because it is not a BMW unit.
The power/cigarette lighter adapter that comes with the unit has a speaker attached to it and that is where the sound comes from if you chose to listen to it that way (in a car).
You can also attach a 1/8 inch audio jack to it and run the sound through the cars sound system if you so chose.
The quandary is this;
The audio jack input on the unit is located on the left, consequently, I cannot attach an audio cord to the unit and run it through the auxiliary jack on the VOICE II system.
The unit is blue tooth capable, mp3 player and XM radio capable.
All my issues will be solved when I finally get the blue tooth helmet system but until then, how do I get the sound from the unit to go through the bikes system?
How did you get sound when the original unit was installed?
The main power connector is the same as the car kit adapter so I figured that you could just hook it up and sound would run through it as it does through the car kit.
Long winded, I know but I was wondering if anyone has an answer.
The pics show the existing cradle.
