Re: Nextstar GPS
We used the unit on the way back from VA and around here locally first day back to evaluate functionality..ease of use..
Standard ops, functions well, responds quickly to forced re-route changes when taking other than designated road. Touch screen is very sensitive, double taps are too easy.
Display is vivid and easy to read. Speaker, voice instructions are clear and understandable, but for us had to be set at highest volume available.
Has capability to store recent nav trips, and a file selection for Favorite nav trips also.
Visible turn directions are obvious and unit zooms-in automatically, when approaching designated turn area.
one thing I do see as troublesome, is when manually zooming in/out, after zooming out for larger view, several times i could not get it to zoom back in, no response.
It also has normal 2D view and 3 diff 3D views that are selectable.
Also has setup for 4 diff types of route selections, based on quickest, shortest, etc...
Does not have selectable trip information and does not provide avg mph info, or miles traveled, unless you are in nav mode, then it keeps track of miles to go to destination, as well as ETA times...
Of course, not water resistant, but for the money a good product up-front, after several days of use. Windshiled mount is standard suction cup arrangement, with easy on/off attachment point between back of unit and windshild mount. Also has a double stick platform to allow mounting of windshield cup to that for dash mount.
comes with USB, Pwr Adapter for Car and 110V. it is also upgradeable thru mfg site.
