Garmin 550

My 03 model did not come out with GPS, thinking of getting a garmin 550 - can anyone tell me if the handlebar mounting that comes with the unit fits the LT?

Re: Garmin 550

I have the Gamin 450 Same Unit basiclly...I have it mounted over the Tank.. The Handelbar mount that came with it looked like it would not fit....But there are several of different kinds of Mounts that will work fine for you....I have a mount for my sirius Sattalite....here is a pic of both

Re: Garmin 550

No you need the factory bracket or a shelf like the BMR unit.

I used the co-pilot shelf and angle bracket, work great.

Re: Garmin 550

I mounted my Zumo on a BMR shelf, too but according to a post on the Zumo Forums, the holes on the bar mount (supplied with the Zumo) line up with the screws atop the master cylinder lid. You just buy two extra long screws.

I have not tried this myself but it might be worth a look-see.

Re: Garmin 550

Thanks all for the help/advice. I will go ahead and get it as it seems that there are a couple of options to mount it. I will be making good use of it - touring in South Africa during December.

Enjoy and safe riding during the coming festive season!!

Is their a BMW cord that enables this to hookup to the power and audio setup like the ColorMapIII did? I have asked the dealer but they have not looked it up yet.
