Navigator 3

I am planning a ride for September 2009 through Washington, Oregon and California. I am coming from Vancouver BC.

First off though I would like to install the BMW Nav3. Anybody got one?
How do you like it?

Cheers.

Re: Navigator 3

Norm,

I have the Nav III on my 2006 LT. Garmin swapped my Nav II after two times back for screen going crazy on routes. They sent me the Nav III but first time screen was blurry so once again they sent a new one. So far this one has been great. I like the color and the 3-D screen.

Norm - I recently upgraded to the Garmin 2820. It's essentially the same as the BMW branded Nav III but includes XM and MP3 as well. Best of all you can get one for a lot less $$ then the Nav III. You can get a refurbished one with a 1 year Garmin Warranty and a 3 year extended warranty from: www.getfeetwet.com. I have had no problems with the 2820 and love the XM capability.

I have the NAV III, mainly because it was an easy install on my pre-wired 2007 LT. However, if I had it to do over, I would have saved the $$$ and also gone with the Garmin 2820. Information on this site will help you adapt it to your bike and you'll save a bundle. Side note, the voice prompting on my NAV III quit after a year of use. Garmin replaced it, no questions asked.

Re: Navigator 3

I have a 09 LT that is pre-wired for the Nav III. If I get the 2880 will I need to change the existing wiring for it to work?

It will plug right in to your wiring and use the same bracket as the NavIII.

IF you don't need Bluetooth, look on Ebay at the Garmin 2730. It's the same as the Nav III and is available as a Garmin factory refurbished unit for about $170. It also includes XM AND the XM antenna.

Also...to hear GPS output, you will need an audio intercom system if you don't already have a Voice II which is optional on the '09 LTs.
