Possible Move to the MAC

Im thinking about getting a MAC. I have the Garmin City Navigator N. America 2009. Any issues I should be aware of before I make a move? Any problems with this software with Vista?
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Possible Move to the MAC

Road Trip is the equivalent to Mapsource.

If you need to run Vista on a Mac, look at Parallels or VMWare Fusion.

Unhappy Re: Possible Move to the MAC

FWIW I got a MAC about a year ago thinking that it would be more user friendly for the wife, but that has not been the case. If I had it to do over I would have gone with another PC. As for my Garmin 60CSX I have tried the Garmin workaround and it's not that good. I use my old PC for the Garmin stuff. Garmin now has Maps for the MAC, but I will wait for the second or third addition before I commit to an upgrade.

Re: Possible Move to the MAC

I love my little iBook which I bought for my wife going back to college. She hass got the hang of it but now uses Windoze at work and is getting lost between the 2. If it is one of the recent Mac's then you can use bootcamp to boot into Windoze.

I made the move to MAC's about three years ago and I am happy that I did. I still have one notebook PC that I use for MapSource and a CAD software program because I am not interested in putting Windows on any of my MACs. You are probably aware that there are some decent web based tutorials to ease transition from PC to MAC. If not, here is a link to explore.

Re: Possible Move to the MAC

I've got macs at home and I used boot camp to set up the one I use most to run Vista. So I run MapSource with the vista boot and it works just fine. I've never tried it with a windows emulator, but I don't see any reason that won't work. (I've been wanting to set this up anyway, I'll try it soon and post a followup.)

I'm not a huge fan of the MapSource app though, it's not very easy to use and the UI isn't anything like most Mac or Windows apps, it's kind of its own beast.

Re: Possible Move to the MAC

City NAV NT is compatible with MAC. Can I use this version? What makes NT different.
