Garmin 2730 - MP3 question

I am considering buying a Garmin 2730.

I see it has MP3 capability. That's good cause I run with an ipod.
However there is no external memory storage and it appears the
2730 has about 750mb free storage.

So...how many song can you get on your Garmin 2730?

Thanks, Tom

Thanks for the reply.

That ebay thing is exactly what I'm looking at. But I'm spoiled with my 4,500 songs
on the ipod. But if I go XM I may, like so many others, stop relying on the ipod as much.

Re: Garmin 2730 - MP3 question

I have had xm for 8 years, will never go back to mp3, to much fussing around, with xm if I want to hear something different I just change channels. No playlists to mess with....

It's kind of neat having the three options: XM, specific MP3's on the Garmin, and my entire library of songs on my iPod. I use XM predominantly except for the wake up ride in the morning when my eyes are open but my brain isn't fully engaged until after breakfast when I have had sufficient caffiene. During the wake up portion of the ride, I like to listen to the MP3's on the Garmin - usually easy going piano solos (Winston, Jones, etc.). Plenty of room for those on my 2820 and all I have to do is select the MP3 source on the Garmin. After breakfast, I may want to select certain riding tunes on the playlists that I have created and it is nice to have my iPod handy. Usually later in the day after lunch during the late afternoon, I always listen to XM, generally the Comedy channel(s) which keeps me more alert than if I was listening to music. I also like to listen to the FM stations in other parts of the country as another alternative to get exposure to what the locals are listening to.
