Garmin 2610 self changes display

I have a Garmin 2610 which I use on both my LT and RT with Ram mounts on each. The problem I have with the unit is that it changes pages on its own. Most of the time I keep it on the route page with tabs displayed showing my speed, distance to turn, elevation, etc. Most of the time that page will stay displayed, but my tabs go blank and the moving map stops moving. All I have to do is touch the top button or screen and the display will return to normal. Other times, though not as often, the display will change pages altogether. I can find no rhyme or reason for it doing such. Any input from you more seasoned riders?

Disable the remote function via the menu or just cover the IR window with tape. Maybe caused by sunlight hitting the sensor.

I had the same problem. Call Garmin, it is a known issue. They replaced mine with a rebuilt one even though it was out of warranty for a very small fee. (I forget what the charge was.)

If disabling the IR remote port does not help - then it is most likely the touch screen failing. Had my first one replaced for just that and it only occured when the temps were below 40 degrees.

Re: Garmin 2610 self changes display

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I put the GPS on the RT Monday and rode over 450 miles. Today, I went for another 300 mile ride. I disabled the remote sensor, and so far, it is working properly. I hope that does it. I'll have to wait until I can ride the LT some more before I can declare a complete victory, but so far, I'm very enthused with the results.

Thanks again for the advice.

Re: Garmin 2610 self changes display

Hello:

I had the same problem with trying to use a 2610 on my 2007 LT. I had been told that the voice II unit would work with the 26XX, 27XX and 28XX units. However, after returning the 2610 to Garmin for two replacement units, I finally gave up after reading in the digest that the 2610 did not work with the voice II unit. I purchased a 27XX unit and it has worked with no problem. The 2610 is now in one of my cars.
