GPS off line this morning

I rode for an hour before work -- 7am to 8am CST -- and my GPS could not get a satellite signal that entire time. Yet I was able to listen to my XM radio. That seems odd to me. Wonder if anyone else had this problem.

Re: GPS off line this morning

That can happen IF you move the unit from one location to another, without having it ON and tracking.

It only happened once to me. I flew to AZ with my 2720 and jumped right in a rental car to get to the hotel. The Garmin took an over an hour to figure out where the hell it was! Even smaller relocation shifts can affect it.

Re: GPS off line this morning

Also, the XM puck doesn't provide any antenna for the GPS, it is for XM signal only. So don't count on that for your signal strength. I am sorry to hear that you had problems, even my old Street Pilot III has done that from time to time.

Re: GPS off line this morning

Losing satellites may be an indication that your GPS unit is developing trouble. I had the same issue on my Garmin; it would lose satellites intermittantly for a few days, and then lost them altogether (never to find them again).

Ended up being a faulty unit (Nuvi 360), which was replaced under warranty.
