Nav II postcode input

Can somebody please tell me why i cant just input a post code on my nav II the way that i can on my tom tom or newer gps.
It will only allow you to input a predicted post code i.e tonight i wanted to input the a post code ST08, but once i input S then the keypad will only let me input an E.. so SE post code

Probably because the Nav II is about 5-year-old technology. How can you compare it to a "newer GPS"? Also, do you have the newest firmware release and map database installed?

try putting the postcode into something like streetmap.co.uk or multimap to see if it is valid. If I was at work I could check if it was valid - but I am not ;-))

from memory it does not seem right, just very sad ;-/
