My ample experience (soooooooo many hours) with Thales and any aspect of service is uniformly poor. Final straw ... the service department (Texas address) ate my software upgrade permanently and never replaced a thing. Investment to rework it all I just couldn't see doing -- it's hours for the simplest thing. I fixed them -- never bought another navigator or product from them. I'm aware that many enjoy their products -- and when they work, all is good. I still have one RM700 that works fine (but can't be upgraded.) But regrettably, they break, and that's when you want to know Garmin. Good luck -- maybe you'll get back the SD card, but, based on my experience, don't count on it.
