Question Zumo 550, 2820 and bluetooth

I'm getting a new GT and trying to figure out what to do about a com system, GPS, ETC. My question is: If I purchase a bluetooth headset for my Nolan 102 can I also listen to the MP3 player and XM through the bluetooth headset? If this is the case, I would only need a com system to handle my FRS radio since I only ride solo. I read the details on both but neither mention using the XM and MP3 with the bluetooth headset. They only refer to cellphone and GPS Nav voice use with the bluetooth headset.

Re: Zumo 550, 2820 and bluetooth

Check out www.zumoforums.com for loads of information on this topic.

The Bluetooth output on the Zumo (and on the 2820, I believe) is mono only. If you want stereo audio you'll need to use the audio output jack.

I think this applies to MP3 audio. I don't believe you can get the XM signal on Bluetooth at all.

The audio is the easy part. It connecting the phone that seems to generate the most consternation but there are several ways to skin that cat.

Before I bought my GPS I went back and forth between 2730 and Zumo, then 2820 and Zumo. Ended up buying the Zumo and I like it very much. I think it looks better on the bike than the "bricks".

Re: Zumo 550, 2820 and bluetooth

Next year, I'm planning on upgrading my 2820 to the Zumo 550 simply because the output features of the Zumo are a leetle more robust than the 2820.

As for Bluetooth output, like Weyman said you can listen to XM and/or mp3s via a BT connection, but it will be in mono only. The nice feature about the Zumo is that you can send your calls through the BT output, but have all of your other audio out of the hard-wired stereo output. I can't do that with the 2820. ARGH! Garmin said they may incorporate that feature in a future 2820 firmware update, but I'm not holding my breath.

Thumbs up Re: Zumo 550, 2820 and bluetooth

Thanks Weyman and Joe for the advice. I guess the Zumo 550 is the way to go from everything I've heard. Now I just have to decide what com system to use.

Thanks for the link, ED. I'll research it. I not sure if the Zumo transmits stereo bluetooth signals.

Re: Zumo 550, 2820 and bluetooth

Dick,

Here is another link.

http://www.benchmarkhelmets.com/prod...d1000v_40.html

Apparently you can attach this dongle to the Zumo and it will give you Stereo.

Do a search on "WiRevo" on the site here and you should find all the information you need regarding this dongle

Cheers
Ed
