Garmin Crapped Out !!

I was getting the bike ready for CCR. You know checking everything like wiring connections, farkle mounts and such. I powered up the GPS the screen came on then "GLOWED" red and went black. Needless to say I was not happy I just ordered a refurbished one off EBay for $162.00. Should be here by Wends or Thur just in time to reload "ALL" my routes.

You do way too much planning if you have a bunch of routes loaded. BSEG You've got your first day from austin to Albuquerque memorized. Just point west and gas it up.

You should have tried a system restart. Every unit can be rebooted to original configuration. Removing possible corruptions that create errors. All units have a slightly different way to accomplish a 'Clean Restart', you need to check the Garmin site or your owners manual.

BTW, a Clean Restart brought my dead 2720 back to life three weeks ago!

I also had to reset my Streetpilot 2820 during a trip. I did it by holding the "Find" and "Menu" keys down and then turning the unit on. It erases any personal data (you get a screen asking if that is okay) that was on the unit, but restored functionality to the GPS and the GXM30 XM radio.

Last year while riding to CCR I was almost hit by lightning. That really screws them up. You oughta try sitting it outside, attached to a large, ungrounded pole and see what happens.

DAMMIT! Have we left yet?
