Adding waypoints to Garmin

Help! I am planning a trip from NC to Gettysburg, PA and Bradford, PA and would like to load the routes into the unit. I was using MapQuest and hand entering the routes with the waypoint tool but that is laborous. Advice would be greatly appreciated,

Re: Adding waypoints to Garmin

I use Mapsource to program my routes, waypoints, and POIs (as waypoints) and don't have a problem with it. It's much more difficult (IMO) to do it using the GPS interface.

Re: Adding waypoints to Garmin

I always use mapsource before a trip to program each day naming them by date....I.E. 802, 803, 804 etc...........
With mapsource it's easiest to move the route to the roads you want....
I usually just "snap" the route over to where I want because choosing a City along the route will usually result in you being led off course to City hall.....
I then insert or edit route as we go to include changes on the fly....

And out of curiousity, how do you "snap" a route? I've tried a couple of times to do that and couldn't get Mapsource to do it. I had to add a waypoint. <sigh>

Good advice, I'll give it a try. Thanks

You need to switch to the "route" tool in the tool bar. Once you do that you can drag out a route by clicking on each stop, or go back to a line between two stops, right click, and there's an option to insert a stop. (Yeah, the UI could be MUCH better in this regard...)
