BMW Navigator III Bluetooth connection problem

I get a message that I need to connect my bluetooth headset before I can make or answer a call. The phone and GPS are connected and I CAN look through my phone book and recent calls, I just can not make any phone calls. Any idea(s) of what the problem is or what I may need to do?

Re: BMW Navigator III Bluetooth connection problem

Apparently, there is no voice-out circuit in the NavIII, at least not that is available thru the Comm system. What it's good for for me is to let me know I've had a call; then I can check next time I stop.

Oh - I noted last week that trying to make a call using just the phone, when in the vicinity of the GPS that is on, the phone does not work right. Using LG8500.

Re: BMW Navigator III Bluetooth connection problem

There is no microphone connection to the Nav III via the intercom system. So, no calls in or out really. If you want to make it work you need to buy a Motorola HF-820. There are many, many, threads on this in the intercom section. The basic idea to make it work is...

1) Connect the HF-820 tot he phone input on the Voice II using the BMW phone cable ($25) or build your own 2.5 mm to 2.5 mm stereo cable.

2) Connect the HF-820 to the Nav III via bluetooth.

3) Connect the phone to the Nav III via bluetooth.

This is how I have mine connected and it works fine for incoming and outgoing calls.

Re: BMW Navigator III Bluetooth connection problem

So, do you pair the HF-820 with the phone too?

Re: BMW Navigator III Bluetooth connection problem

No, if you do you may get weird results. My phone would not respond to mic inputs unless the person I called talked first for example. That did not occur if I did not link the phone to the HF-820.
