K1200lt Gps Mounting Bracket

I have the BMR shelf but do not like the distance from my eyes. I now have a bracket on my handle bar which is hard to see. What is like the OEM product?

If you're talking about where BMW currently mounts the GPS. find the rondel on the bike stingray. Remove it and that is where BMW currently puts the GPS. As for me, that makes me take my eyes too far off the road to be comfortable, but it might just be the cat's meow for you.

Re: K1200lt Gps Mounting Bracket

I am thinking of getting this;

Where it is a mirror that can be used on both sides becouse the mirror itself swivels, thus removing the glass I will have the base to mount the gps close and inwards to the middle of the bike in any distance I want from my eyes.

This mirror cost Nkr 169 = US$ 33.-

And if it is set on a loop then I can have a meecanical shop make an upper and lower base to put some devises on it. The body of the mirror is good to tighten some electrical wires to also.

Re: K1200lt Gps Mounting Bracket

Larry,

I also have a BMR shelf with the GPS mounted in the center position. I wrote a review of the installation with photos a while back. It is here: http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31521. In any case, I have since replaced the factory GPS mount with one from BMR. It puts the unit at a much more favorable veiwing angle.

If you are interested in the factory mount assy (2 pcs), drop me a line and we'll work out the details.

My personal opinion is to leave it on the BMR mount. It is far easier to use there, does not block your view of the instrument panel and is better protected from the elements.
