Zumo 550 to car

I see that the 550 comes with a car set up, but obviously that is only for the GPS stuff. Has anyone be able to run the XM abilities into the car too? For example does it have an FM modulator or anything that will allow you to use all the XM services in the car too?

Also, does it come with a way to hard wire it to the radio on the bike?

Re: Zumo 550 to car

I believe that the 550 has the exact same outputs that my 2820 does. It has no FM transmitter, but it does have a 3.5mm jack for audio output. From this jack you can hardwire it into your intercom system. You can also run a third-party FM transmitter, if desired.

A lot of new cars are giving you a 3.5mm input so you can run a cable from the 550 to the car's aux input without the use of an FM transmitter. Thank goodness!!!

Re: Zumo 550 to car

Thanks Joe,

But my car doesn't have an Aux Input like that. So is this "Third Pary FM Transmitter" like a modulator?

Re: Zumo 550 to car

Jerry,
When you set it up for the car, you can hear the prompts from the speaker in the mount. You can also hear XM if you put the puck on the dash. You still hear it from the speaker in the Zumo mount.

Re: Zumo 550 to car

Thanks Eric,

But I imagine the sound quality would not be quite the same as running through my car's 10 speakers.

I am trying to find out if I can run it through the car audio so I can cancel the one Sat radio I have now and just use this for both car and scoot.

Thanks Joe,

That is what I was looking for. They are a PITA when traveling cause you are always switching channels, but better than nothing.
