Daylight Saving on SPIII

So we had the time change over two weeks ago, but the clock on my GPS is still one hour behind. I know the unit gets the time off the satellite, so what gives?

Re: Daylight Saving on SPIII

Just wait a few week until the regular DST would have happened. It will automatically update then..

Re: Daylight Saving on SPIII

About four months ago, I traveled to Tucson and my 2610 kept the same eastern time. I do know about DST. I guess I will have to give it a try.

Re: Daylight Saving on SPIII

I think you can download an update to the software from Garmin to fix that. I had to update an older Garmin last year. If they don't have the updated software for the SPIII you'll have to check the manual on how to manually set the time.

Good Luck,
Kevin

Re: Daylight Saving on SPIII

GPS satelllites only transmit GMT (Greenwich Mean Time, or "Zulu" time for you military/aviation types). The offset from GMT is setup in your setup screens, and you have to set DST on or off yourself. The automatic switchover in most GPS units is still based on the old dates, and will not be affected until a software update is done. It is controlled totally by the software in the unit, not the satellites. I don't think there has been a firmware update available for some time now on the old Streetpilot III units, may never be, as this is basically an obsolete unit now in Garmin's eyes.
