Garmin StreetPilot 2610

This is just an FYI. I saw that Buy.com is selling reconditioned 2610 units for $180 including shipping. If interested you can see the info here

Great price for a good unit. But if a 27xx can fit your budget, I highly recommend it. They're getting cheaper all the time as well.

Re: Garmin StreetPilot 2610

Are the 2610's and the 27xx's waterproof or water resistent? Do they come preloaded with the maps?

The entire StreetPilot line is waterproof. The biggest differences between the 2610 and the newer models are these:

2610...you have to load in the mapsets...can NOT use the newer NT maps

27xx, 28xx...comes with maps preloaded...future support will likely be better

But, all in all, the 2610 is a great unit. It has features that none of the newer units can match. At issue is how long Garmin will support it.

The 27xx and 28xx have super fast recalc times, better screens and other capabilities.

You can go to garmin.com and do a side-by-side comparison.

Re: Garmin StreetPilot 2610

Garmin also has reconditioned for $199 and you can "buy" an extended 3 year warranty.. so, they will "support" it for at least 3 years.

I like the 2610... it's fast enough (usually for the speeds I travel).

Loading "maps" is a one shot deal.. Load all on a 2GB CompactFlash card (not included), insert into the 2610 and ride.
