I Way 600

Any I way 600 owners here? Been looking at one and wondering if they are more reliable than the 500 ? I like the large screen. What's your likes, dislikes? Thanks

I've got over 24,000 miles on my IWay 500. I have no complaints really. Sometimes the screen is not as sensitive as I would like when wearing gloves, but that's the worst I can say about it.

I like the large screen, the MP3 player is good, there are skins available and overlays can be configured to allow you access to map, speedo, and MP3 controls all on one screen.

A battery would be nice so you can program in the hotel without the AC adapter.

I have heard people complain about the "route avoidance/preference" feature not being very good. i.e. -- you only want to take major highways or no highways... It has worked well for me - although I would like a setting for dirt road avoidance.

If you have any specific questions, just ask and I will do my best to give you a more detailed response.

I would buy one without second thought. I just bought their new model - the XOG. It's in the mail so we'll see how that one turns out.

I've got well over 50K miles on two iWay 500c units. As mentioned, I love the large, clear screen and the ability to change the data shown. I also keep several audiobooks on it and an assortment of music.

I've had variable reliability with both units. Both worked great for a long time, then the touch screens started going a bit flaky. Both were sent back to Lowrance and replaced with new units. I also had a hard drive hang that locked up the whole unit, but that was after almost an hour of barely paved forest roads and very rough dirt roads. A few days later I tried it again and it worked fine.

As for your original question, I think the only change from 500c to 600c is a higher resolution screen, larger hard disk, and the ability to overlay satellite pictures (like Google Earth). So unless they've upgraded the touchscreen mechanism, I'd say the overall reliability should be about the same.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

I way 600

Ive got the 600, move it between two cars and my LT. I love it no problems if any gripes would be the price of power cords to hard wire into vehicles.
