Garmin Navigator II question

For some unknown reason while driving along all of a sudden a shrill beep beep beep will come through my head set. Anyone know why?
Thanks in advance Dave

Are you using an FRS radio as well? If so it could be telling you that the batteries are low.

Disable the IR eye on the unit and you're relieved from the beeps. The IR eye is a bit sensitive and may react to direct sunlight.

Don't know the exact translations in English, but it should be something like:

Menu button -> Settings -> General -> Menu button -> disable IR.

If you need the IR eye for a remote control, you can put a piece of black tape over the eye on the front of the unit.

Even with IR disabled, I still find problems in direct sunlight until the sensor is covered in black tape.

Smile Attention Tone Maybe.

Dave, just a thought but it may be the attention tone prior to a voice command. Chase up the menu function to disable this "tone" When I was having "issues" with the IR port on the NAV II, the map scale would jump all over the place, and random pages would display. The Nav II also has a menu to disable the IR function or you can just block the port with black electrical tape. Worked for me. For interest the NAV III IR port seems not to have the same problem, but I cannot find the "disable" function in the menu. Been so much rain here in the UK, excess sun affecting the IR port isn't a big problem.
