Garmin 2730

Just purchased a pristine 2730 from a BMWLT member and returned from a business trip to Michigan (SUV) and found that the GPS wanted to send me on State routes rather than the interstates. I experimented with the "fastest route or "shortest" and it didn't seem to make any difference.

Returning home I checked the manual and the only other option I can find relative to this issue is the "Continuous Auto Routing" feature. I'll try this programming next.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I also have a Lowrance 500 c where there is a setting for Interstate or local routing. Garmin doesn't seems to have this feature or have I missed something?

Any help would be appreciated

Each one (even amongst Garmins) is different. My 2720 I have the same routing choices you do but in "Avoids" I can select road types to avoid. Check that section out for choices 'Settings/Navigation/"Down arrow"/Avoids...

Thanks John, I'll give that a try.

Noticed your avatar. I rode the "Dragon" at the Deals Gap - Thursday - June 7th, 2007
"NO photos from this day. Photos were lost due to a drive failure. Our Apologies."
Guess I'll have to do it again. I also checked Zeefoto but no pics!

Thanks again for the Garmin info

Too bad you missed a photo op. I live so close and have ridden it so many times it has lost its magic. That was a "special run" with the bride (of 35 years) on back for her first trip. Usually I try to avoid it - too much work. Hope the suggestion works out.

Tnx John,
That worked. I re-did my route which would have included the OH Turnpike and that's what happened.
