Question Garmin 2720 Basemap change

Hey all. I've got a question. Does anyone know how to change the basemap for a Garmin 2720? I recently purchased one and it came with the North American NT v8 maps installed. Fine. I now live in Germany. I do own the Europe NT v9 maps. Any ideas on how to get the NA ones of of the unit so I can free up more than the 800mb currently available? It isn't as easy as my Nuvi 350 of simply deleting them through a PC interface. I sure would like to have all of Europe on there instead of having to change the map out each time I travel somewhere new.

Thanks in advance, guys.

I don't believe that you can delete the north american maps from your 2720. If you bought a north american unit on the internet the maps are in non volitile rom/ram and can not be deleted. The best I think that you can do is to load the Europe maps and then disable the north american maps.

You can connect the 2720 to your PC using USB mode (you're prompted to select USB or Garmin mode when the unit makes its initial connection to your PC).
At that point you can erase whatever is on the 2GB flash module, that is, the City Navigator US version street level maps (approx. 1.2GB).
You will not be able to erase the US base map, AFAICT.
You should now be able to load the Euro street level maps.
