Good rides, waypoints and mapsourse files

Could any of you good folks tell me if there is a webste on which Garmin users post ride files or share the files of great rides . If not , is this a great idea or perhaps a bad one?

In other words, you get back from a great ride , download the file and post it to share with other GPS riders?

am I dreaming?

I think its a great idea, A couple of years ago I suggested we have a place for great gps routes here on this site. Not enough interest I guess. Good luck in your quest.

It's a great idea on paper, but there are many variables. For example: What map database do you have? Ver 6, Ver 7, ver 8? . . . and so on. It seems like every time someone shares a route with me, my PC and/or GPS wants to reroute it because of conflicts in database versions. This happened to me on my recent cross-country ride. Several people shared routes with me, and I don't think a single one of them worked as intended.

Just some food for thought...

Thumbs up

FWIW I think WayPoints would be a great thing to share, however.

I'm in I think it is a great idea too. I may not follow each but it would at least give me a great starting point in areas that i am not too familiar with.

How hard can that be mr sitemaster... Ah the great undfunded mandate...

Would it be appropriate to create a thread in the GPS forum for each submission, and upload data file as a small attachment?

Not sure if this addresses your question, but I have collected web sites over the past few months that looked like they would provide route suggestions - for when I eventually got my GPS. So the caveat with these is that others recommended them, but I have not used them to load routes into a GPS unit.
