Question Which GPS Would You Recommend?

I am looking for a GPS and want the best "bang for my buck"....I don't want to spend 1K, but want to stay in the $500-$700 range.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks....Karl

I picked up a factory refurbished Garmin 2610 with a full 1 year warranty on eBay for $400. It's the lower end of their latest line, but is a fantastic unit. I just did a cross country trip from Atlanta to Seattle and back to San Jose and it guided every step of my way through all kinds of weather and conditions. It's easy to use and the LT aftermarket already has mounts and what-not for the 26xx/27xx series from Garmin.

Here's a link to one (same kind of package I got) you can get with a for less than I did, woth the new V8 maps -

I have a Garmin 376C, 700 bones but you get XM radio built in and Nexrad Radar ready. This unit has worked very well for me. -Chuck-

Garmin SP c330?

Anybody have a Garmin StreetPilot c330? If so, how do you like it?

Not a good choice for motorcycle use. Toooo much screen glare. Not waterproof.

The c330 is not recommended by Garmin for MC use. #1 it is not weatherproof #2 I don't believe ANY MC aftermarket manufacturers have designed a descent mount!

Here is Garmin's MC list. Check it out and compare for yourself.

I have a 2720 that I like a lot... but, I also have a stand-alone XM radio, and don't really care about ipod type sound libraries, or Bluetooth.

The 26xx, 27xx, 28xx, the new Zumos and others on the Garmin list are all weatherproof and really good mounts are availble from touratech and others.

Remember, the GPS unit is only a piece of the puzzle. You have to mount it, get audio out of it, protect it and be able to reach it!

Good luck.

I have a Garmin 2610 which works great.......but in particular I am VERY satisfied with my Touratech mount. I had a RAM before which I felt was weak. Nothing weak about the Touratech. Touratech is pricey.

The Garmin 2610 is been a great choice for me. Awesome little unit and relatively inexpensive.

Only problem is that you can't use the touch-screen with gloves on. That's probably a good thing since there would be more crashes for taking you eyes off of the road playing with the darn thing.

Garmin 2610, with a 2 gig Compact Flash, lots of mounting options. Now you can get them refurbished or used at very good price.

Want XM? Traffic alerts? Think 2730. Prices are starting to come down on this model. Great unit if you want the xtra goodies. With XM, I stopped listening to everything else!

Karl, take a look at the BMR shelf, puts the GPS in a centered, heads up location. -Chuck-

My 2610 is one of the best purchases I have made in some time. Very happy with the unit.

BTW, I don't seem to have any problem running the touch screen with gloves on.
