Unhappy Garmin City Navigator V8.0 loaded - now what?

I have loaded into my PC V8.0 and unlocked. Went to menu and found my "Westcoast" file that was originally loaded in V5 on my computer.
in Upper menu changed to Version 8 and reloaded maps to 2610.

I transfered to the 2610 and all went well.. When I query the Detail maps info button It says I am enabled on Navigator V5.0 and BMW Dealers map.

WHy is it still showing NAV V5.0 versus 8.0?

How do I update the BMW dealers list also?

Do I need to delete V5 map and reload again? Should it not update and now say V 8.0?

If I read your post correctly, I think in Navigator, on the PC, after switching to version 8 in the top bar, you need to unselect all maps, and reselect the maps you wish to use.

If you didn't unselect, then the maps you loaded were version 5 (Still selected from the saved file, and still loaded on your PC). By changing the drop down to version 8, you just changed what is displayed on the screen, and any new maps selected will be version 8, not the old ones that were already selected.

Hope that helps.
(Hope its right)

That is what I did for my GPSMap 60 Csx and it appears to have worked just fine.

Ranks,
That was it !! I had to deselect the maps in V5 and redo them in V8.

Now the GPS shows it is acting under V8. How I get them off the PC is another thing all together!!

How do we get to update the BMW Map dealers is need be?

Thanks again!

Here's another thing I found I needed to do when I upgraded to Ver 7 last year. In my 2610, I needed to deselect Ver 6 maps, otherwise some of the routing was screwed up.

By memory, Press the Menu button, then press 'Map Info'. You should be able to deselect older maps from there.

Joe may have hit it.

I am not familiar with your model. I assumed that you, like me, would upgrade the software on the PC, setup routes, waypoints, select maps, then download to the GPS.

With maps already in the GPS, you should be able to de-select them.

As far as the dealer POI, don't know. There is a link on this site somewhere to a file of dealer waypoints that an individual is keeping fairly uptodate by hand. That is what I use.

Joe is correct, that is where I checked to see what map I was showing.
V5 is gone and now V8 is showing.......

I wonder if I can tell any difference anyway?

It will be obvious when you come across a road that was not on the older revision. There is a new road I sometime use on the way to work. The old map set had me riding across a cow pasture. The new revision has me riding on the new road. Magic......
