Map Quest with Garmin Nav V

Map quest has a tab for uploading to GPS. Has anyone used this successfully?
Any danger of clogging the Garmin Nav with unwanted coding that are not compatible?

thanks for your help

Re: Map Quest with Garmin Nav V

I would export a GPX file of your route to your desktop and then manually put it on your Nav V connected just like an external hard-drive.

Re: Map Quest with Garmin Nav V

I've used MapQuest many times & have never had any trouble loading the maps with one exception. On Mapquest you can not just drag the route to a different road then upload the new map. For some reason Mapquest only recognizes the route it creates. To get the route you want you have to create the route using way point or multiple points of reference. If you want to go on curvy back roads only & not the highway I pick & starting point then a ending point. Next I find the smallest towns along the route I want to take & add those as stops.

here is what map quest routes

By adding Dripping Springs to the route it changes it & will now load to the GPS correctly.
