Big Twin BMW in Boise - No Help

I was returning from the MOA in Gillette and encountered electrical problems with my brake, trun signal and tail lights. I pulled into Big Twin BMW in Boise, ID for some help.

I was informed that they were several days behind in BMW recall work and had no time to work on my bike. I let them know the seriousness of the problem and that I was "on the road" and didn't have many options. They said sorry and they could maybe get to it in three of four days but they were not going to clear a spot on there schedule for me. I all fairness I will say that my LT has been triked and is not your standard LT but refusing to help someone out traveling away from home isn't the norm I've encountered with other dealers.

I didn't get mad or angry with them, I just left and drove the remaining 300 miles home. So it appears that if you are having problems on the road around Boise, ID, forget about getting any help from them.

Re: Big Twin BMW in Boise - No Help

Interesting. I've been in the Big Twin dealership a couple of times when I've been in Boise. Can't pass up a BMW dealer ya know. Anyway the two times I've been in their store I've found it hard to get anyone to talk too. It was kind of like I was imposing upon their day! Odd I thought. I've ridden from Modesto, CA to Boise 5 times and I've wondered if they would be a dependable dealer if I ever got stuck with problems away from home. I makes me think maybe not. I hope I'm wrong as I would like to see all dealers survive.

Just a side note I stopped in Max BMW in Troy, NY and they were extremely friendly. A great store too. In fact Roseville, CA, and Sparks NV were also friendly.

Re: Big Twin BMW in Boise - No Help

Sorry to hear you had a unhappy experience with Big Twin,

and my guess is that the fact your LT is triked has a lot to do with it.

My experience with Big Twin was totally positive,
I called them on a Monday afternoon and they set me up for a new rear tire the next morning,
I was "in" by nine and out by "eleven"
unfortunately a hundred miles "up the mountain" we hit an Elk and totaled the LT.

One phone call from the Anonynous book and they arranged the towing etc,

when weI got out of the hospital a week later and found out the LT and Bushtec trailer were totaled
they "stripped" all the farkles of it for me at no charge.

They treated me very good and actually "couldn't have been more helpfull"

Re: Big Twin BMW in Boise - No Help

I had tried Boise BMW once when on the road and they could/would not help.
This time, when a problem arose in Wyoming, I was between Boise and Loveland, Colorado.
I headed for Loveland and was fixed and out the door in two hours.

Hey Randi... What was the problem with your trike and its electrics? Sorry to hear Big Twin didn't give you any help. They helped me once with a battery problem and a moto-light issue another time. But they were small in comparison to possible electrical failure to the rear area of your machine.
