Thumbs down Chicago BMW...Chigaco,IL Negative

I have used Chicago BMW over the years for the online discount. I realized that they were a little slower that most, but my current situation has put me in the rant mode.

On May 28th I placed an order for some mostly normal supplies since I had some maintenance to do prior to my trip to Colorado this month. Brake pads, screws, washers, spare linkage clips, Air filter, fuel filter, etc.

I did not receive my order....so on the 26th of June I called to check on it. The person I talked to said that the order was there and that he would get it sent out that afternoon.

It is now 4, July and the order has not shown up on my credit card and I have not received it.

I emailed them today, since they are closed for the holiday, and expect them to Fed Ex me at least the brake pads so that I can make my trip.

Needless to say, if they do not comply with that at their expense...I am done with them.

Their discount don't mean squat to me when lies are told, and in this day and age of instant communication, I find it hard to believe that whomever is in charge up there lets thangs like this occur, without any action to resolve the situation to your satisfaction!! Bidness must be good at Chicago BMW!

Guys I have dealt with them on countless occasions, and have never had any complaints. I will agree that it seems they have dropped the ball here. I also always do business face to face with them, for obvious reasons.

I will state that the owner is a tool but everyone else I have dealt with or encountered there has been great.

Sorry to hear about your experience I hope you get things straightened out.

I always enjoyed dealing with Lone Star and felt a bit guilty not buying it all from them. I guess I can correct that now! Chicago obviously doesn't need my business.

Re: Chicago BMW...Chigaco,IL Negative

Chicago BMW was open today, so I called. Their response was that they were working on sending them out last Wednesday but they were "swamped and everyone wants their parts". The computer was down, so he could not check on anything.

I asked if all the dealers were having problems getting parts from BMW and the answer was NO. The problem was that they are swamped. 6 friggin weeks to pack up and ship a small box of parts?

I got another promise that they would try to ship at least the brake pads on Monday.

I have had enough....This will not happen to me again.

When you leavin' on your trip?? I have a full set of Carbone Lorraine pads at Rhinewest - has my name on 'em, and can send 'em overnight to ya if Chicago blows it again on Monday. I don't need 'em for awhile yet - plenty of time for Parts Unlimited to send another set to Rhinewest.

Question Re: Chicago BMW...Chigaco,IL Negative

I have always had good service from Chicago BMW, I have dealt with them for the past 6 years. I have worked Mark, Peter and now Javier. Prices can not be beat.

Re: Chicago BMW...Chigaco,IL Negative

Never, never, never expect anything fast from these guys. Always be prepared to call and urge them to ship and tell them you would appreciate their help. Price is the only thing they offer - they do not carry parts - their discount business model does not allow them when offering a 20% discount - you will wait for them to order, BMW to deliver and for them to reship. What would be outstanding is if BMW would drop ship but then other dealers could offer the same deal.

Re: Chicago BMW...Chigaco,IL Negative

Followup:

My parts finally came in ....in time for me to replace the brakes (which were paper thin by then) and get ready for my trip.

The shipment was missing 3 clip pins with no mention of a backorder....so I emailed them and included a digital picture of the package. The next day I got a return email advising me to call another department to discuss this.

I have spent more than enough of my time chasing this around, so I replied and told them to keep the clips, and the money, and take me off of their customer data base.

Re: Chicago BMW...Chigaco,IL Negative

I'm sure most dealers are aware of this forum. What amazes me is the fact this negative experience you and others have had with these folks.....appearently has no impact on them.

If they keep at this pace, service should improve immensely as business will drop off measurably.
