Thumbs up Mathias BMW Cycle Sales (New Philadelphia, OH)

I brought my LT home from Mathias BMW Cycle Sales last night. For $1,240 + tax they installed a new clutch, replaced all the seals, installed a new slave cylinder (old one was fine, but I wanted a new one in there anyway), AND installed the new Ohlins shocks I had shipped to them. Their total labor charge was $550.

Their estimate of $1,000 to do the clutch job was right on target. The additional cost was the slave cylinder and labor for the shocks. Their shop rate of $55/hour seems fair, and is < 60% of my hometown dealer's rate.

I'm very pleased with the work that Jamie, their tech (service manager?), did. He's very knowledgeable, and took time to show me what was done, etc. Owner Gene Robinson has been good to work with, also. He's more than the dealer/owner -- he's a BMW expert in his own right.

Even though they are 2 hours from home I see more work going their way. My hometown dealer estimated $2,500 to diagnose and replace the clutch -- that does not include the slave cylinder or shock installs. Their $95 shop rate adds up real fast.

Mathias BMW also has loaners from their used bike inventory. While I didn't like (at ALL) the K75S they gave me to get me home... it got me home. The Touring version of the K75 would be fun to check out, but the S was the reincarnation of an ancient Chinese torture machine. What a great engine and drivetrain, and more power-to-weight than I have experienced, but not my cup of tea.

Kudos to Mathias BMW Cycle Sales.

Re: Mathias BMW

Did you get your hole(s) drilled also?

Glad you got it all fixed.

It was on the work order but Jamie didn't do it. He said it had no value; he explained why but I didn't understand. I'll have to do it myself or have someone else do it.

Re: Mathias BMW

Wow--maybe I should consider moving to Ohio. I took my '05 in yesterday for clutch & brake and fluid flush, oil change, new front tire (I supplied the tire). Total bill= $521.

Re: Mathias BMW

I second Howards Howards opinion. These guys are great and I will use them again for service and when it comes time to get a new bike.
